BULOHAWO (AGGM) — Somalia’s semi-autonomous state of Jubaland security troops arrested tens of people on suspicion of being involved in an attack on army camp in Bulohawo town.
The soldiers nabbed 20 people, including 7 Somali soldiers, who were accused of collaborating with Al Shabaab during the attack on the camp, killing dozens of troops, sources said.
Well-known merchants were among those were put behind bars, according to sources, who spoke to AGGM on phone.
The attack was claimed by Al Shabaab, saying it killed 30 soldiers at camp, while 20 more others, who injured in the attack, were taken into hospitals in Kenya’s Mandera town.
Jubaland State minister, Abdirashid Janan says he had ordered the arrests of those suspects, adding that those who found guilty will be brought into justice.
“We heard that the arrestees collaborated with Al Shabaab for the attack on the army camp in the town of Bulohawo. We are now conducting an operation relating the attack”, Janan said.
Bulohawo, a town, some 5km away from Kenya’s Mandera county along Somali border, Daily Nation newspaper reported.
Hundreds of Kenyan soldiers were deployed into areas near the border, in a bid to prevent attacks planning by Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab.
