GALKACYO – Heavy clash broke out between two local armed militias near Galkacyo town in central Somalia’s Mudug region.
The skirmish flared up in Godod area near the town as armed local herders from Somalia’s semi-autonomous Galmudug and Puntland States, according to local residents.
Heavily armed soldiers from the two states were reportedly involved in the fighting.
The exact number of casualty remains unknown.
But, hospitals in south and north of the town received several people, who were injured during the gun battle, according to medical sources.
Neither Galmudug nor Puntland has commented on Saturday’s fighting near Galkacyo town in central Somalia.
