BARDERE – Kenyan troops serving under African Union peacekeeping mission in Somalia have withdrawn from Tarako area near Bardere town.
Sunday’s withdrawal made by Kenyan troops came 7 days after the Kenyan peacekeepers pulled out of Bardere town over unknown reason.
In phone talk, Somali military officer, Guhad Mohamed Umar said that it was unclear why Kenyan troops had vacated from towns in Gedo region.
“We don’t know what forced the Kenyan forces left from towns and areas in Gedo region”, he
Somali-based group Al Shabaab claimed to have re-captured Tarako area, shortly after withdrawing by Kenyan troops under African Union mission in Somalia.
There was no immediate response from Kenyan officials in Somalia over the departure made by its troops under African Union peacekeepers in the horn of African nation.
