MOGADISHU, Somalia – At least 3 people have been killed and two others injured in heavy gun fight broke out between Somali government forces and Al Shabaab fighters near Dinsor town, southwest of Somali capital Mogadishu.
The fighting erupted after Somali forces attacked villages contolling under Al Shabaab fighters near the town, leaving three militants dead, a military official, Jim’alle Mohamed said.
Mohamed says the military forces had also captured two other fighters alive during the battle.
“We have launched fresh attack on bases held by Al Shabaab near Dinsor town. Our forces killed 3 militants and captured two others alive”, he said.
He confirmed that one of government soldiers had been injured in the fighting. He says the victim was taken into hospital.
No word was available from the Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab group over the military claims.
