MOGADISHU, Somalia – Kenya’s anti-terrorism forces have allegedly shot and killed 10 unarmed civilians in an operation carried out near its border along Somalia.
The operation was carried out in Issa Gur area, some 12km away from Elwak town, after Kenyan anti-terror units targeted a communication center of Hormud Telecom, leaving 2 guards dead, a witness said.
He says masked soldiers had carried out the attack, while he said the Kenyan soldiers had also deliberately shot and killed 10 unarmed civilians in the town.
He added that the Hormud Telecom centre was destroyed with bomb explosions used by Kenyan forces over unknown reasons.
Sahal Mo’alim Aden, a deputy commissioner of Elwak, said that the Kenya’s anti-terrorism forces had raid some villages of the town, killing at least 10 civilians.
There has been dispute between Kenya and Elwak administration, according to Aden.
There was no immediate comment from Kenyan officials over the latest allegations.
