MOGADISHU – Two Somali soldiers have been shot and killed by gunmen, thought to be Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab assassins in Mogadishu.
The victims, who were local government soldiers were gunned down by men armed with pistols in Mogadishu’s Dharkenley district, a witness said.
He says killers also confiscated two Ak-47s after being killed these soldiers, adding that the killers fled from scene.
“I saw gunmen shot dead at least two soldiers and took rifles from them. They (killers) escaped from the spot”, he said.
Somali security soldiers arrived at the scene and launched an investigation to the matter.
No group claimed responsibility for Saturday’s murder, but Al Shabaab carried out such killings in the capital for the past months.
