MOGADISHU – Somali-based group of Al Shabaab has paraded on Friday three soldiers in Jilib town, some 410 km south of the capital city of Mogadishu.
The soldiers are said to have deserted from Jubbaland State and joined the group which tries to topple western-backed Somali government.
“They (soldiers) repented and decided to fight alongside the Mujahedeen brothers fighting against Somali army forces backed by African Union troops a”, the group said on its website.
The group says the soldiers armed with AK-47 riffles in military clad in uniform standing side by side in Jilib town.
The soldiers are reportedly surrendered to Al Shabaab after deserting from Jubbaland State army over unknown reasons.
No word was available from the Jubbaland authorities on the defection of its soldiers who are said to have joined into the armed group of Al Shabaab.
