KISMAYO – Heavily armed foreign forces suspected to be from US and Somali army troops attacked on targets held by Al Shabaab fighters near Kismayo town.
The coalition forces targeted militants’ bases in Bulogadud area, some 30 km north of the coastal town of Kismayo, residents said.
Heavy gunfire was heard as gun fighting between both sides was ongoing in the area, according to residents, who spoke to AGGM on phone.
It is too early to say the exact figure of casualty on the fighting.
The Jubaland authorities in Kismayo town were unavailable to reach on the phone for comments on the attack against Al Shabaab.
The attacks comes after Somali-based group Al Shabaab claimed to have killed at least 26 soldiers in an attack on Jubaland military base near the town earlier this month.
