MOGADISHU- Deadly suicide truck bomb has exploded outside Safari hotel in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu, killing at least 20 people.
Saturday’s explosion went off near the hotel at a busy junction in the capital, a witness Mohamed Harun Mohamed said.
“We have taken bodies of 20 people – all civilians and dozens of others on board injured”, Mohamed said.
The explosion destroyed the hotel building, according to senior police officer, Mohamed Hassan.
Hassan says the security forces were chasing the truck bomb driver before being exploded in the capital.
The death toll could likely rise, Hassan added.
The capital city of Mogadishu has seen huge truck bombs before truck bomber possibly detonated several hundred kg of explosives that making it one of the biggest attack.
No group has claimed the responsibility for Saturday’s explosion in the capital, but Al Shabaab carried out similar attacks in and out of the capital city of Mogadishu in the past months
