MOGADISHU – United State military says it has carried out air strikes on targets held by Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) fighters in Somalia.
Friday’s strikes were conducted in Buqa area, some 60km from Qandala town in northeast of Somalia, leaving one fighter dead.
US defense officila told VOA that an ISIL fighter had been killed in the drone strikes.
He did mention the name or position of the fighter whom US claimed to have killed in Somalia.
There was no immediate response from ISIL group over the air raids in Somalia.
