Roadside explosion hits AMISOM vehicle in south of Somalia

DANOW — A huge explosion hit an armored vehicle carrying African Union peacekeepers in south of Somalia.

Monday’s explosion damaged the AMISOM convoy as it was travelling near Danow and Golweyn areas in Lower Shabelle region.

Initial reports suggest that the blast burned down one of military vehicle belonging to AMISOM peacekeepers from Uganda.

No deaths and injuries were reported over the explosion.

The armed group of Al Shabaab claimed the responsibility for the bomb attack on its website.

The group claimed an attack in earlier last July, which killed 11 Ugandan soldiers serving under African Union mission in Somalia.
