MOGADISHU, Somalia – The African Union peacekeeping force known as ‘AMISOM’ in Somalia has denied to have lost some of its soldiers in an attack by Al Shabaab.

The AMISOM refuted allegations showing that its troops suffered an attack by Al Shabaab in Shalambod in south of Somalia’s Lower Shabelle region.

The mission said that its troops, who were on patrol had successfully repulsed an attack launched by Al-Shabaab militants at Gandawi.

“There were no casualties nor injuries incurred as claimed by the reports”, the AMISOM said in Twitter feed.

The mission added “the allegations are a fabrication and part of Al-Shabaab propaganda”.

The African Union peacekeeping mission says all Al-Shabaab propaganda would not deter AMISOM from executing its mandate, and working jointly with the Somali security forces to secure the country and protect peace loving Somalis.

The AMISOM urges the public to ignore those baseless claims
